At Africans Shop, we take as much care in ensuring your satisfaction as we do in crafting our cultural fashion pieces. If your item doesn’t fit perfectly or meet your expectations, our returns process is designed to be as smooth as the fabrics we select for our collections.
Our Return Promise
We accept returns and exchanges within 15 days of receiving your order. All returned items must be unworn, unwashed, and in their original condition with tags attached. Due to the cultural significance and delicate nature of some pieces, final sale items and customized lehengas cannot be returned unless faulty.
How to Initiate a Return or Exchange
Step 1: Submit Your Request
Email our customer service team at [email protected] with the following information (you may use the template below):
Step 2: Receive Authorization
Within 1-2 business days, we’ll email you a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and shipping instructions. Returns without an RMA number cannot be processed.
Step 3: Ship Your Return
Package the item securely in its original packaging and include all tags. Affix the return label we provide (for exchanges) or ship to:

Note: Original shipping fees are non-refundable. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the return is due to our error.
Refund Process
Once we receive and inspect your return:
- Processing Time: 3-5 business days after receipt
- Refund Method: Original payment method (Visa, MasterCard, JCB, or PayPal)
- Timeline: Allow 5-10 business days for the refund to reflect in your account after processing
Exchange Process
For size exchanges:
- Follow the return process above
- In your email, specify the new size needed
- We’ll ship the replacement once we receive your return
- Standard shipping rates apply for the new item
Special Considerations
Due to the handcrafted nature of our products:
- Lehengas: Custom-sized or altered lehengas cannot be returned or exchanged
- Final Sale Items: Marked as such on product pages
- International Returns: May be subject to customs fees which are the customer’s responsibility
Damaged or Incorrect Items
If you receive a damaged or incorrect item, contact us immediately at [email protected] with photos of the issue. We’ll arrange for a prepaid return label and expedite your replacement.
